Hydroseeding is a lawn establishment method that uses a high-pressure spray to apply a mixture of grass seed, water, fertiliser, mulch and tackafire bonding agent onto prepared soil in one application. This slurry results in fast germination, moisture retention and even coverage primarily due to the mulch fibres which retains water keeping the seed moist, preventing wind and soil erosion.
Unlike traditional dry seeding or laying instant turf, hydroseeding offers a more efficient, cost-friendly and eco-conscious approach to growing a thick and healthy green lawn.
Depending on your application we can offer a range of additional additives, such as soluble fertiliser, water retention additives, clay breakers and soil conditioners.

Hydroseeding is a popular alternative to traditional instant turf or dry seeding because it delivers excellent results at a lower cost, easier application and great environmental benefits.

Hydroseeding to assist in erosion control provides a range of benefits as the mulch used in the slurry will bind to the soil, reducing run-off and protecting against wind and rain damage making it a great option for areas prone to erosion.

Most hydroseeded lawns begin to germinate within 7-10 days, with full coverage achieved in just a few weeks however, germination time will depend on the weather, the time of year, the amount of water applied post application, soil type and terrain. • Equipped to spray from either the SUV or the Hino truck with additional 4000L water tank for larger commercial projects.
• Able to spray from 100sqm up to 7,000sqm per day (depending on application).
• Our Turf Maker has a hand-held operation with 60m hose, a rear spray bar set up and a high-power cannon option.
• The different application methods allows us to reach difficult terrain with minimal disturbance.
• The operation is a two person job.

Pricing:
All pricing is based on square meter quantity, location & product requirements. Larger areas will often reduce the cost.

Proper watering is essential for even germination on your new lawn. Dependent on the weather we can recommend a watering schedule to initially get your lawn started, 1-2 watering cycles per day until seed has germinated at which time watering can be reduced.

Tips for watering:

• Inshore water covers the area evenly without creating areas of pooling or where water may run off and create trenches.
• Throughout summer it is recommended to water your hydra seated area one to two times a day which should be concentrated in the morning and evenings. Should any dry spots be evident, additional water should be applied to those areas.
• Similarly in the cooler months watering is recommended one to two times a day dependant on rainfall.

Once the grass blades are 7-10cm tall you can mow your lawn. Only remove the top 3cm for the first few cuttings. Never remove more than a 1/3 of the height of your lawn in one mowing. Do not mow the lawn below 5cm tall during summer to avoid burning.

Tips for mowing:

• Avoid sharp turns.
• Mow with a catcher to remove grass clippings.

A fertiliser additive is included in the slurry with the seed mix and is sprayed out during application. No further fertiliser is required until the lawn is 4-5 weeks old depending on the soil quality & watering schedule. After this point fertilising will ensure that your lawn stays lush and green. If your lawn begins to lighten in colour, it would be a good idea to fertilise. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure appropriate nutrients are applied for the conditions.

You may have weeds begin to grow which is normal as most topsoils already contain weed seedlings. Do not apply herbicides before the third mowing. Take a sample of the weed into your local nursery for identification and appropriate management solutions. Ensure you tell them that you have a newly Hydroseeded lawn.

Hydroseeding or hydromulching using native seeds is a cost effective, efficient and sustainable solution for site rehabilitation, combating soil erosion, suppressing dust, and ensuring continued natural growth for your site.

Native seed, is a seed that is local to a specified area or region and is acclimatized to its natural habitat.

Native grasses are slow growers and the seed can be viable and is able to germinate over a 6-12 month period.
